About Mathis Music
The story of Mathis Music actually begins in the late 60's on the campus of Indiana University where Tom Mathis
was a piano major. One day he bumped into a voice major named Renee, and that was the beginning of a partnership in music and in life. Tom often teases his wife
that she was a cute singer looking for an accompanist. Well, she got one!
Tom and Renee subsequently relocated to Sarasota, Florida in June of 1979 and established Mathis Music in a
busy shopping plaza on Tuttle Avenue.
Our business prospered, and in 1996 we purchased a 10,000 square foot commercial building just across the street
from our original location. We now occupy a newly remodeled and redecorated showroom with a beautiful setting for our pianos, Allen organs, keyboards and teaching studios.
Mathis Music was awarded the Allen Organ dealership in April of 1996. Under the leadership of Ted Hayes,
manager of our Allen division, Mathis Music has been responsible for the installation of more than 300 new Allen organs in churches and homes throughout 15
counties along the west coast of Florida. Ted's expertise and gift of working with organ clients is represented by
over 36 years of experience as an Allen representative and over 1,000 Allen installations. In 2001 Mathis Music was awarded the Jerome Markowitz award as the outstanding Allen Organ dealer of the year.
 Quality and qualified technical service is a
"must" at Mathis Music. We maintain a staff of 2 Allen "factory-certified" organ technicians who cover our entire 15 county area as well as 2
professional piano tuner/technicians that are well-known for their quality work and excellent customer service.
Our comfortable showroom features a wide
array of pianos for every need. Whether you require a fine concert grand for a classical concert or a baby grand with a player system for your home, we can accommodate. We offer
instruments that we would be proud to own and play ourselves. We pride ourselves on providing the right instrument for the right setting. We follow up with expert service,
which is why our clients are our friends.
At Mathis Music we are active musicians who are actively involved in our churches in the community and in
cultural projects. We also maintain a staff of 4 professional and experienced teachers who offer piano and keyboard lessons to students of all ages.
Mathis Music, Inc. is the authorized dealer for pianos by Estonia, Schimmel, Mason & Hamlin, Perzina, George Steck and Falcone; digital pianos by Kurzweil and Sejung; and church and theatre organs by Allen.
